LEADERSHIP/LIT (LEADERS IN TRAINING)
At Camp Deen, campers between the ages of 16-18 who want to become counsellors can participate in our leadership program (years 1 & 2). Not only will they learn what it takes to be a counsellor, they will gain valuable leadership skills, experience, and150 hours of volunteer service!

WHAT DO LITs DO?

Each day, the LITs rotate between camper age groups and activities and shadow counsellors. They are encouraged to take initiative and build their skills and confidence in a leadership role.
When LITs aren't shadowing other counsellors, they work with their own counsellors on various activities to learn and practise skills required to be strong leaders, work as a team, and bond with each other.

2018 LIT Out-trip

In 2018 and 2019, the LITs went on an out-trip.
One afternoon was spent paddling around the lake before stopping to grill up lunch, swim, go over Olympic Day planning, and enjoy some down-time together.
One main focus of the LIT program is creating an environment where youth can make lasting memories and friends for life.

OLYMPIC DAY
Much of LIT's time is spent preparing for Olympic Day, where they choose a country to represent. They each select campers from each age group to be a part of their team, designate tasks and stations to counsellors, and spend Friday afternoons as a team leader/counsellor while campers compete in a series of games and competitions.
