Clothing Guide
To ensure comfort, modesty, and safety at Camp Deen, please follow these clothing guidelines:
-
No logos on the back of pants
-
No spaghetti straps, tight, or revealing clothing
-
No short-shorts or off-the-shoulder/cold shoulder tops
Prayer Attire:
Boys: Shorts must cover the knees; caps are welcome but not required
Girls: Headscarves and leg coverings below the knee are required
Jumah Prayer:
Wear something clean and special. Cultural attire is encouraged. This is also when we take our annual camp photo—so look your best!
Tick & Nature Safety (Important):
Northern Ontario is experiencing a high tick hazard this year. Dressing in long layers helps protect against ticks, mosquitoes, poison ivy, and other natural irritants. To help protect yourself:
-
Long socks are required
-
Leggings under skirts are mandatory
-
Wear light-colored clothing (to help spot ticks easily)
Phones and Electronics
Camp Deen is set in a beautiful and inspiring natural environment, and we aim to help campers appreciate and respect it.
To create a fun, distraction-free week in a Muslim community setting, we ask that campers do not bring electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, game consoles, music players, or movie players.
If devices are brought accidentally or for the trip, they must be turned in to staff upon arrival and will be securely held until departure. Any found in use during camp will be collected and returned on Saturday.
Cameras, binoculars, GPS devices, and musical instruments are allowed.
Food Guide
We provide a Halal menu—no need to bring food!
Severe Allergy Alert:
Campers & staff have life-threatening allergies to:
-
Peanuts & all nuts
-
Sesame seeds & sesame oil
These are often found in:
cookies, granola bars, trail mix, crackers, buns, baklava, hummus, baba ghanoush (contains tahini).
Peanuts, nuts, and sesame are NOT used in our camp menu.
Food Rules:
